Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour This fine, powdery base will give your pastry structure.
  • 1/2 cup cold water Essential for binding the dough together.
  • 1 1/4 cups cold salted butter This rich, creamy ingredient will create the layers.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Add the all-purpose flour, cold water, and cold salted butter into a large bowl. Mix with your fingers until a rough dough forms.
  • Shape the dough into a ball and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Rolling and Folding

  • Remove the dough from the fridge and roll it out on a floured surface to form a large rectangle.
  • Fold the dough like a letter, wrap it in plastic again, and refrigerate for another 30 minutes.
  • Repeat the rolling and folding technique four times, resting the dough in the fridge for 30 minutes between each time.

Final Steps

  • Once the fourth fold is done, your Puff Pastry dough is ready to use or can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days.

Notes

To enhance flakiness, keep your rolling pin and work surface cold. Flour generously when rolling out the dough to prevent sticking. Experimenting with herbs or spices in the butter can add flavors.
