Ingredients

For the brownies

  • 6 oz white chocolate bars (chopped, such as Lindt or Ghirardelli bars) The star of the show, these creamy bars lend a sweet, luxurious flavor.
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter (cubed) Adds richness and a delightful buttery aroma.
  • 1 large egg (room temperature) Provides essential moisture and structure.
  • 1 large egg yolk (room temperature) Enriches the batter for an ultra-decadent texture.
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar Contributes to the sweetness and moisture.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the overall flavor.
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour The backbone of the recipe.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Balances sweetness.
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (plus additional for topping) Essential for that extra indulgence.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a 9x9 inch square pan with parchment paper, letting some paper hang over the edges.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chopped white chocolate and cubed butter. Heat in 20-second increments, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Let sit to cool slightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the whole egg, egg yolk, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk on medium-high speed for about 4-5 minutes until pale and slightly thickened.
  • Add the slightly cooled white chocolate mixture to the egg mixture and whisk until well combined, scraping the sides and bottom of the bowl.
  • Gently fold the flour and salt into the wet ingredients using a rubber spatula, being careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the white chocolate chips until evenly dispersed.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with an offset spatula. Press additional white chocolate chips into the top.

Baking

  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes, tenting with foil halfway through. Bake until the middle looks set and the edges are lightly golden.

Cooling and Serving

  • Once baked, cool the brownies completely in the pan on a wire rack. Use the parchment overhang to lift them out, then cut into 16 squares.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor. Consider serving warm with vanilla ice cream and drizzled chocolate sauce.
