Seasoning

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by liberally spraying the inside of a large crockpot or slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Season the chicken breasts generously with salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Place them snugly at the bottom of the crockpot.
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, Italian dressing, light brown sugar (if using), and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk until well combined.

Cooking

  • Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the seasoned chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully coated. Place the lid on the crockpot.
  • Set the crockpot to cook on high for 150–180 minutes or low for 300–360 minutes, until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature reaches 165°F).

Serving

  • Once cooked, shred the chicken right in the crockpot with two forks to absorb the sauce flavors.
  • Serve on soft buns for BBQ sandwiches, or use creatively on pizza, salad, tacos, nachos, or over rice.

Notes

For reduced prep time, use rotisserie chicken. Add smoked paprika for a smoky flavor or hot sauce for heat. Serve with coleslaw, corn on the cob, or green salad.
