Cooking Instructions

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. The oil should shimmer, signaling it’s time for the veggies to shine.
  • Add the diced jalapenos, green pepper, onion, and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté until softened, approximately 6 minutes.
  • Push the sautéed vegetables to one side of the pot and add the ground beef. Cook while stirring until it’s no longer pink. Drain any excess fat for a healthier chili.
  • Stir in the garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat the meat and vegetables with flavor.
  • Pour in the water, diced tomatoes with green chilis, and tomato paste. Stir until the paste is fully dissolved.
  • Allow the chili to simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.
  • Serve the chili hot, topped with shredded cheese and a dollop of sour cream. Enjoy!

Notes

For a more robust flavor, consider using a mix of ground meats. Remember to adjust seasoning according to your taste preferences.
