Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans (washed and trimmed) Bright green and crisp, these beans bring a fresh, vibrant addition to your plate.
  • ¼ cup butter Rich and creamy, butter enhances the overall flavor, providing a luscious base for the dish.
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds Lightly toasted, these almonds add a delightful crunch, giving texture and nuttiness to the dish.
  • 2-3 cloves garlic (minced) Aromatic and savory, garlic elevates the taste, filling your kitchen with its beautiful fragrance.
  • ½ lemon juice The juice brings a refreshing brightness that cuts through the richness, balancing the flavors perfectly.
  • Salt and pepper Essential seasonings that enhance every ingredient’s natural flavor.

Instructions

Cooking the Beans

  • Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the green beans and let them cook for 3-6 minutes, tasting one to ensure it's cooked to your liking.

Cooling the Beans

  • Once cooked, drain the beans in a colander. Immediately plunge them into a bowl of cold ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain again and pat the beans dry to remove excess water.

Cooking the Almonds

  • In a large sauté pan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the sliced almonds and cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly browned. Remove the almonds from the pan, leaving the buttery goodness behind.

Sautéing the Garlic and Beans

  • In the same pan, add the minced garlic along with the cooled green beans. Sauté until the beans are heated through and the garlic is fragrant, about 3 minutes.

Combining and Seasoning

  • Add the toasted almonds back into the pan, giving everything a gentle stir to combine. Turn off the heat and squeeze the juice of half a lemon over the mix. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  • Transfer the Almondine Green Beans to a serving dish and enjoy them while they’re warm and fresh.

Notes

For a milder garlic flavor, add minced garlic towards the end of sautéing the beans. You can also substitute almonds with walnuts or pecans.
