Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 16 oz Bella mushrooms, sliced These mushrooms offer a meaty texture and deep flavor.
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil or salted butter This serves as the base, adding richness.
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt Essential seasoning that enhances the umami flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Transfer all of the sliced mushrooms into a strainer and rinse them gently with cold water to remove any dirt.
  • Pat the mushrooms dry with a tea towel or paper towel to ensure they're moisture-free.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, pour in the olive oil over medium heat and allow it to warm up for a minute or two.
  • Carefully place the cleaned mushrooms into the skillet, spreading them evenly. Sprinkle the kosher salt over them.
  • Sauté the mushrooms for about 10 to 15 minutes, stirring minimally to allow caramelization.
  • Avoid pouring out the moisture released by the mushrooms, as it will enhance their flavor and texture.
  • Once the moisture has evaporated and the mushrooms are glossy, they are ready. If desired, increase the heat to high and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes for a crispier finish.

Notes

Consider adding fresh thyme or garlic powder while cooking, and finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for brightness.
