Cook the Pasta

  • Once melted and foamy, whisk in the flour. Cook for about 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the mustard powder.
  • Slowly whisk in the warm milk, bringing it to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to medium and cook, stirring constantly for about 3 to 4 minutes.

Incorporate the Cheeses

  • Reduce the heat to low and add the cheeses in three batches, starting with the American cheese.
  • Whisk to ensure it fully melts and combines, then repeat with the sharp cheddar and Parmesan.
  • Season with additional salt and pepper.

Combine Everything

  • Gently fold the sautéed meat mixture into the creamy cheese sauce.
  • Add the elbow macaroni, stirring to coat every piece.

Serve

  • Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Make it spicier by adding more chili powder or diced jalapeños. Feel free to use different cheeses or add veggies like spinach or broccoli. Leftovers improve in flavor!
