Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 400 g milk chocolate Creamy and rich, this chocolate brings a luscious depth to the brownies.
  • 200 g unsalted butter Adds a velvety texture that enhances the fudginess of the brownies.
  • 3 large eggs (beaten) Provides structure while keeping the brownies moist and tender.
  • 225 g light muscovado sugar This brown sugar adds a hint of caramel and a rich depth of flavor.
  • 75 g self-raising flour Creates a lightness in the batter.
  • 25 g cocoa powder Intensifies the chocolate flavor, giving a deeper color and richness.
  • 100 g pecan nuts (chopped) Crunchy and slightly buttery, they add a delightful contrast.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 150C/140C Fan/300F. Prepare a 20cmx30cm (8x12) baking tin by lining it with baking parchment.
  • In a large bowl, break up the milk chocolate into chunks and add the unsalted butter. Microwave for about 2 minutes until melted. Stir until well combined and cool slightly.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the self-raising flour, cocoa powder, and light muscovado sugar. Sift to remove lumps.
  • Pour the flour and sugar mix into the melted chocolate and butter mixture. Gently stir until a smooth brownie batter forms.
  • Incorporate the beaten eggs into the brownie batter. Mix until fully combined.
  • Add the chopped pecan nuts to the batter, stirring to distribute evenly.

Baking

  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared tin, spreading it evenly. Bake for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Once baked, remove from the oven and place on a cooling rack. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Storage

  • Store brownies in an airtight container with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider using dark chocolate or adding sea salt on top before baking. These brownies can also be served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
