Main Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Walleye fillets Moist and firm for best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice For freshness.
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions Chopped, for garnish.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder For added flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Seasoned breadcrumbs For the crispy coating.
  • 1 large Egg To help the breadcrumbs stick.
  • as needed spray Olive oil spray To mist the air fryer basket.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by thawing your walleye fillets. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  • Crack an egg into a medium-sized bowl and whisk it until combined. Season the egg with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Breading

  • Set up a second bowl with the seasoned breadcrumbs. Dip each fillet into the egg mixture, letting excess drip off before transferring it to the breadcrumbs.
  • Coat thoroughly, pressing gently to ensure breadcrumbs adhere.

Cooking

  • Preheat your air fryer. Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray.
  • Once ready, place the breaded fish in the basket. Set the temperature to 380°F and cook for 12 minutes without flipping.

Serving

  • Once cooked, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the fillets. Serve hot with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, and a sprinkle of green onions.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding dried herbs to the breadcrumbs. Ensure the air fryer is preheated for best texture. Try different coatings such as cornmeal or crushed nuts for a twist.
